Dedicated to journaling our work mission trip to Costa Rica sponsored by the Iowa Conference Volunteers in Mission of the United Methodist Church. A place for us to share our excitement, prayers, anticipation, and anything else God puts on our hearts.
Continue praying for the team, for the people with whom we will work, play and worship with in Costa Rica, safe travels and for those we leave at home. God goes before us and will walk with us!

DAY 4 ORPHANAGE

Tues. Jan. 8 This morning was overcast and a little cooler temperature which would be in the 60's probably. We were a cooperative group this morning. Fewer persons showering in the mornings and the group seems to be sleeping in a little later. Chig had the coffee made.

We left promptly at 7:30 AM for breakfast at the Guadalupe Methodist Church about 15 minutes away. Our breakfast was a more traditional American one today with cereal, milk, sweet bread, watermelon and our “favorite” fresh pineapple. They are grown here.

Our group was greeted with waves from the children upon our arrival. We got things set up for the afternoon session and then played Frisbee and games with the kids. The painting team was very productive today and had a lot of help from the kids. Many of the paint crew picked weeds and debris around the ground.

We have enjoyed our view of the house under construction from our very steep, hilly view. We are not too excited about backing down the hill, oh, another one of our adventures.

Walking to our bus, there was suddenly an armed guard in front of a store with his rifle. We learned that he was guarding the lottery tickets. Quite a surprise to Chig and Nancy. Barbara M.
