Dedicated to journaling our work mission trip to Costa Rica sponsored by the Iowa Conference Volunteers in Mission of the United Methodist Church. A place for us to share our excitement, prayers, anticipation, and anything else God puts on our hearts.
Continue praying for the team, for the people with whom we will work, play and worship with in Costa Rica, safe travels and for those we leave at home. God goes before us and will walk with us!

DAY 5 MEDICAL TEAM AND HAIR CUTTING

Wed. Jan. 9 Medical team. It was our third day of clinic at the church for our team. So many we saw were young moms with several children and at the end of the day 85 patients had come in! We took pictures of each other holding the cutest babies in the world! Then another cute one would come in! Our day was long but went very smoothly.

Meanwhile at the other end of the room, Kathy, Sally and Bev had a situation. Kathy found nits while cutting hair and 2 children had to be treated for lice which means washing the head, leaving the solution in for 10 minutes, rinsing, etc. Keeping all cuttings picked up. Talking with the parents was a challenge. One small girl had to finally have her head shaved and was treated for infections. She cried for over an hour/half and was totally inconsolable.
