Jan. 10 Church Construction Team The team at the church spent the morning on building a cabinet for the new kitchen, a beam and a floor. The painting crew lent invaluable assistance to the general construction crew. Eight people worked to mix cement in the courtyard and carry it up to the new kitchen, where four people spread and leveled it to create an even floor. They also filled in a space on the balcony and several steps. Everything went great, except that we learned that cement is, by definition, either too wet or too dry.
We cleaned the cement area, tools and moved the boom (a project in itself) and painted it.
Then half the team threw things down from the roof (metal, wood, wire and some rebar). The other half of the team sorted and stacked it, moving quickly to stay out of the way of the next bunch of materials. We had just enough time left for some of us to run down to the bakery on the square. Judy & Paul M.
