Dedicated to journaling our work mission trip to Costa Rica sponsored by the Iowa Conference Volunteers in Mission of the United Methodist Church. A place for us to share our excitement, prayers, anticipation, and anything else God puts on our hearts.
Continue praying for the team, for the people with whom we will work, play and worship with in Costa Rica, safe travels and for those we leave at home. God goes before us and will walk with us!

Day 13 Beautiful Sites with an Inspiring Ending

Thur., Jan. 17 What an awesome day in God’s great country! The past nearly two weeks have been days of new experiences, challenges and triumphs. Each day a special one for every one of us and today was no exception.

Another bus ride after breakfast took us thru the city, over the hills and winding to the mountain top. Around every turn there is a spectacular view. As we rode Charlie Strong told us his “story.” One of trust, searching, accepting and was inspirational. I wish I were young again and could find a vision to pursue as he is.

The Poas Volcano. A long bus ride and a short walk up the hill where we could see the wonder that God’s hand has created! Awesome to look down upon Poas crater where there was a little lava gurgling! The day continued as the bus
took us to a majestic waterfall

(Paz), a local pastry and candy store and a second waterfall (Angel). All along the way I wanted to remember the beautiful sights. I wish that I had a photographic memory as clear and long lasting as Darci’s camera!

The last evening meeting of our mission team was the most memorable of all. A very fitting end to our adventure in CR was having communion served by Ev and Susan. Remembering the blood and body of Christ giving us everlasting hope and assurance for our salvation and a reason to share His love thru our work and love was the theme. Communion cups were med cup. Thanks to John and Marilyn for the ice cream sundaes. What a sweet, thoughtful thing to share with all of us! God bless us all as we go our separate ways tomorrow with so many blessings from this special adventure. Joyce L.
